Surgery

• Lumpectomy: This surgery involves removing the tumor and a small margin of surrounding healthy tissue.
• Mastectomy: This procedure involves removing all or part of the breast.

There are different types of mastectomy, including:

• Simple or Total Mastectomy: Removal of the whole breast.
• Modified Radical Mastectomy: Removal of the whole breast and some of the lymph nodes under the arm.
• Radical Mastectomy: Removal of the breast, underlying chest muscle, and lymph nodes of the armpit.

Radiation Therapy

This treatment uses high-energy rays to target and kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy is often used after surgery to eliminate any remaining cancer cells and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Chemotherapy

This treatment uses powerful drugs to kill cancer cells or stop them from growing and dividing. Chemotherapy can be given orally or intravenously. It's often used when the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body (metastatic breast cancer). It can also be given before surgery to shrink tumors or after surgery to kill any remaining cancer cells.

Hormone Therapy

This treatment is used for cancers that are hormone receptor-positive, meaning they use hormones like estrogen or progesterone to grow. Hormone therapy works by blocking the body's natural hormones or lowering their levels.

Targeted Therapy

This treatment targets specific molecules involved in the growth and survival of cancer cells.

Immunotherapy

This treatment helps the body's immune system recognize and fight cancer cells. Immunotherapy drugs for breast cancer are often used in combination with other treatments for certain types of breast cancer.
